A transparent looking fish having a crystal like appearance. This is a freshwater fish scientifically known as Kryptopterus bicirrhis and laballed as ghost fish. It usually inhabits lowland rivers and streams with turbid and fast flowing water and commonly fed on pelagic hemipterans, small fishes, small worms, and crustaceans. They are usually found on schools with 100 members. The maximum recorded lenght was 15 cm however life span has no record.
This fish prefers to live in tropic regions with temperature range of 21°C - 26°C and distibuted along asian countries such as Mekong and Chao Phraya basins; Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. In reproduction aspect, this fish is identified as open-substrate spawners and non-guarders.
It is also considered as economically important fish and commonly utilized for aquarium use and for manufacture of phrahoc, a kind of fish sauce.
